Hello Everyone! If you’re reading this, you’re probably a friend, a client or a family member. Thank you for the support, firstly. If for some stroke of luck I’ve broken beyond that list….Yay! Hopefully you’re a lover of skin (or utterly confused by it) and a lover of life. Here we go…
I have always loved to write. I very seldom send emails because when I do, I write novels and I try very hard to spare other humans from my verbal vomits. So this place is perfect for me. Writing to my hearts content about what I love doing the most….helping other humans sort out their skin. I’ll start by saying that I am not great at using social media to the best of my/our business’ advantage. I have never fought hard to be insta famous. I hate being the centre of attention and I much prefer just getting on with my work. The problem with this is…those of you that need a little help with their skin will only be able to find me really through word of mouth. Our entire business was build that way, and I’ll probably never change that part of our ethos.
I also very much love skin. The function of skin. The science behind ingredients. The reaction when you put the two together, for better or worse. I am very lucky in that I get to see and touch thousands of faces. I get up close and personal, both with skin and with each clients’ heart/soul/psyche….whatever you like to call it. I call it a heart. I spend a lot of time trying to understand other humans, their loves, lifestyles, heartaches, professions, etc…just so that I can understand their skin. It’s all connected. One thing links to another. The human body is pretty incredible in that sense.
I am here to dispel the myths. I want to educate each human on what is best for their skin. The problem is, I have only so many hours in a day and I see one person at a time. This newsletter will hopefully help me reach more people. I realise this sounds like I think I am the skin messiah and that no one else has the answers. Absolutely not true. I hope to be able to interview many different experts on here. I’ve chosen substack because I have never wanted to be aligned financially with a brand. It makes you lack objectivity. With this medium I can say what I want, talk about what I want and I only cater to you. The industry is brand led. This newsletter is Pam + reader led.
Yes I know this first entry is a bit ‘introducey’ and boring. So I’ll leave you with this…the story behind the name ‘wash your offing sheets’. As I mentioned before, I treat thousands of faces. Every client gets asked a myriad of questions. Some I ask every single client, and some are based on answers they’ve given me. It’s a totally deep-dive. The majority of my clients come to see me because they are having problems with their skin beyond pre-mature ageing. So I have to play detective. One of my first questions is always, “how often do you wash/change your bedsheets?” You’d be shocked at the answers. Actually I’m not sure you would be, as most people say every two weeks, or every month, or every three months, or when they tell me they need to be washed based on their smell. I have heard it all. The correct answer is always ONCE A WEEK. The number of clients that I’ve treated who ONLY had to change how often they wash their bedsheets in order to improve their skin is uncountable. Never ending. It boggles the mind. So, before you go buy that expensive miracle cream (and yes there are some, and they don’t always have to be expensive), try washing your sheets more often. I will always say to a client, “if I asked you to wear your underwear for two weeks/a month/three months etc, would you?” Of course the answer is no. Bedsheets become a cesspool of bacteria, dirt and grime very quickly. Wash them. In hot water. Every Single Week. :)
As a side note, I want to have a weekly chat session, where it’s just me and paid subscribers. An ask and answer time, if you will. You ask, and I’ll do my best to give answers to your specific questions. This will be for paid subscribers only. Some of this Substack will be free for everyone, and some will be paid. As a business owner, I rarely take a salary. This little piece of the internet is just for me. I want to be able to take time out of my treatment room to give the best advice I can. Paid subscriptions will help support that. If the current economic situation is bogging you down (I totally feel that) then please know that there will be plenty of information on here that is free. But one to ones and possibly some post will be subscriber only. I hope that makes sense.
I also want to find balance in posting the right amount, please do check in with me if you feel it’s too often or too little. I will find the sweet spot eventually as I muddle my way through launching this thing. In the meantime, thank you for joining me here. If there are any topics you want me to cover, just pop them in the comments. And don’t forget to WASH YOUR EFFING SHEETS! Big love and hugs, Pam XX

This is brilliant. What a good idea, Pam. I do wash my effing sheets weekly, I promise.
I’m beyond the list! This is great stuff :) thanks for sharing your wisdom
